From Legacy to Liberation, Our Future We Build Together.
Legacy Reimagined. History Activated. Help us transform the Legacy Building into a living space for reflection, learning, and change.
The Legacy Capital Campaign
Reopening in Spring 2026, the National Civil Rights Museum’s Legacy Building will take visitors on an immersive journey through the unfinished business of civil rights. Rooted in Dr. King’s book, Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?, the exhibitions will examine core pillars and strategies around poverty, education, housing, gender equity, and nonviolence. They will also explore how his vision continues to shape today’s fight for justice and equality.
This renovation matters because it bridges history and the present; it speaks directly to the world we’re living in today. It will educate and inspire visitors with a truthful look at the civil and human rights movements that have shaped America from 1968 to now. In a moment when history is under attack, these galleries protect the stories, strategies, and voices that continued after Dr. King’s assassination. They show how movements in our recent past continue to influence the issues we face.
By supporting this renovation, you become part of The Legacy, helping safeguard truth, honor history, and give future generations the clarity they need to understand today’s challenges. Your gift strengthens this shared history and empowers visitors to see their role in what comes next.
